Don 2 sued for copyright infringement

December’s most awaited release, Farhan Akhtar’s Don 2 has run into troubled waters. The producers of the original Don, Nariman Films have sued Excel Entertainment for proceeding with a sequel with buying rights from the production house.

Nariman Films advocate said, “”The remake rights were given only for the film Don – The Chase Begins Again, starring Shah Rukh Khan, by an agreement, which expired in 2009. Thereafter, they never renewed it or even take any prospective rights from Nariman films.” The producers have all intentions of dragging the film to the High Court and getting a stay on its release.

Breaking their silence, producer Ritesh Sidhwani tweeted, “About the notice from the original producers of Don be rest assured we have done nothing wrong and shall stick to the correct legal and moral principles.”
We sure do hope that this controversy does not cause any sort of delay in the movie’s release.
